Dental Implants: The Best Solution for Missing Teeth

A dental implant is a titanium post that is inserted directly into the jawbone. Once in place, it fuses with the bone via a process called osseointegration. The procedure requires you to fully heal before an abutment is placed atop the post (healing time varies with each patient). Once your bone and gums are fully healed, a permanent replacement tooth is attached.

Almost anyone healthy enough for a tooth extraction who doesn’t smoke or drink heavily is a candidate for the procedure. The advantages of dental implants over dentures include:

  • The crown, bridge, or arch remains fixed in place
  • Implants can last 25 years or longer
  • A completely natural appearance
  • No discomfort once you’re healed
  • Won’t slip when you eat or speak
  • No dietary restrictions after about 3 months
  • Can prevent bone loss and stimulate bone growth
  • Do not develop cavities or decay
  • Are cared for with brushing, flossing, and regular dental visits

Our Dental Implant Services

We offer complete dental implant services under one roof. In a single office, we treat patients and manage a state-of-the-art lab. This allows us to reduce treatment times and offer more affordable services than our competitors. Our high-quality services include:

  • Comprehensive Consultations and Examinations: During your initial consultation, Dr. E will evaluate your dental needs and review your health history. He’ll then create a treatment plan and timeline. You’ll also receive a full quote for the entire procedure.
  • Personalized Treatment Plans Tailored to Each Patient: Everyone’s oral anatomy and dental health is unique. You’ll receive a treatment plan tailored to your needs and expectations and, from your first visit, will be provided with a temporary solution that looks and functions naturally.
  • Cutting-Edge Dental Technology and Techniques: We use digital impressions and 3D scanning to assess your dental anatomy and plan your treatment. Our team also specializes in the latest techniques, such as All-on-4 dental implants to replace a full upper or lower arch. For patients who are not candidates for full implants, we can provide implant-supported dentures.
  • Sedation Dentistry: We know some of our Calabasas patients are apprehensive about dental implants, if not dental visits in general. Aside from local anesthesia, we can use nitrous oxide to reduce anxiety or IV sedation to help you sleep during the procedure. General anesthesia can be used if a deep sleep is preferred or required.

The Dental Implant Procedure

Scheduled dental implant procedures generally take 1 to 2 hours. It can take 6 weeks to 3 months for the implant and bone to fuse. Once they do, you can receive an abutment and permanent crown, bridge, or arch. You’ll go home after each appointment and spend up to 3 days in our office.

After the procedure, we make various recommendations to help you heal and reduce the risk of implant failure. We advise resting for the first 48 hours after surgery and taking over-the-counter or prescribed pain medications. To reduce swelling, apply an ice pack in 15-minute intervals for the first 2 or 3 days; rinse with salt water, while maintaining your dental hygiene routine, for the first week. It’s also important to eat a soft diet for the first 3 months.

Frequently Asked Questions

How Much Do Dental Implants Cost?

Generally, a single implant costs $3,000 to $6,000 and an All-on-4 procedure costs $35,000 to $45,000. Every patient has different needs; we’ll determine the cost of your treatment plan during your evaluation. At Implants 4 Life, we provide transparent pricing and affordable packages. Financing options are available and include flexible payment plans (we also accept cash, major credit cards, and dental insurance).

What Does the Complete Procedure Include?

The entire treatment process includes extractions, bone grafts, gum surgery, and other procedures needed to prepare for dental implants. It also includes sedation, removal of infected tissues, implant placement, and temporary and final dentures/bridges/prostheses.

Can I Stay Awake for a Dental Implant Procedure?

Most of our patients are awake for the procedure. A local anesthetic numbs the area where we place an implant. However, we offer sedation options that can induce relaxation or make you less aware of the process (or sleep through it). General anesthesia is rarely used.

Do I Really Get “Teeth-in-a-Day”?

A permanent implant is not fit until you’re healed. You’ll receive a temporary prosthesis made of a different material that’s fully functional. It lets us make any necessary adjustments and for you to fully heal while we mill your final implant.

Are There Age Limitations on Dental Implants?

We’ve seen people of all ages deal with tooth loss. You’re never too old to receive dental implants. However, your bones must have reached maturity, so most people aren’t eligible for dental implants until they are 18 to 20 years old.
